I change my nails too much to keep posting updated pics on my blog but really liked this design.

 



O.P.I's Liquid Sand!

I have absolutely been loving this trend, I'm not sure that it's really catching on but I think it gives a nice texture that the "caviar" nails were trying to achieve, except this stays on waaaay longer. When I tried the caviar nails, it was a disaster, stayed on for not even a day because the beads kept falling off. OPI makes some great sand polishes, I know China Glaze recently came out with "Texture" polishes that are suppose to have the same effect but I haven't gotten a chance to pick any up yet to compare.

Definitely go out and try some of their fun colors!

Essie's magnetic nail polish! *Review*

So I am a little late in picking up this nail polish, mostly because I have tried other magnetic polishes and was just very hesitant because I didn't like the way they turned out (mainly because my nail beds are long as is, so imagine when they are grown out). Besides the overall outcome of the polish, the price is around $11, depending on where you buy it, I usually don't buy polishes that pricey unless I know it'll be worth it.

So without further a do, let's get into it...

 

 

Now, there really was no "good" way of taking this picture, I tried to capture the design as best I could but overall, it looks better in person. This is in the color "SSSSSSexy." Essie's version of this magnetic nail design is suppose to be representative of snake skin, and like I stated before it's hard for me to get this whole magnet thing down because my nails are so long, so the print comes off a little uneven.

So far I do like it, would I purchase this in other colors? Probably not just because of the price. I think it's definitely something I need in my collection but not something I need to be splurging on to have every color, because I do have about 4-5 other magnetic nail polishes (one from China Glaze, a couple from Claire's, etc). This makes me want to reach back for those polishes and try to experiment to see if I can get them working.

This is just day one of using this polish so I'm not sure how long the wear is, but I did not put a top coat on because in past experiences it tended to smear the design. I would imagine they stay as long as other Essie polishes though.

St. Patrick's Day nails!

China Glaze's "Graffiti Glitter" and then a small clover for the accent nail. St. Patrick's Day is probably my least favorite to do nail designs because I'm pretty terrible at creating clovers, I did pretty good for this one though.

Caviar nails!

So yes, this is an old trend but since I have finally found a cheaper alternative, I have decided to try it out. I mentioned I did these once before but now that I won't be working for around five days I figured it would be a good time to test them out.

Pros: It does give a nice, textured effect

Cons: You can't use a top coat to seal them in (because the beads will lose color), they will probably be falling off very soon...we shall see. You may be able to use nail glue so they stick on longer...but I probably won't keep these on my nails for very long.



This weeks nails/new polishes!

Nails were created with these polishes (my thumb was a repeat of my pinky). From left to right; OPI's "Designer...De Better," China Glaze's "Escaping Reality," OPI's "Stay the Night (Mariah Carey's liquid sand collection)," "Pink yet Lavender," "A Butterfly Moment"


So pretty, I love them! Especially "Designer...De Better" and the glitter!

New nail trend=moon candy!

So I actually have no idea how long this trend has been out for, I think the first brand I saw carrying this was Revlon, but it was in the double sided nail polish tubes?...Anyway, I've recently spotted more brands carrying this type of polish and I must say, I'm hooked! It's like glitter polish without the hassle!! So what am I talking about?...Moon Candy!

So this version is from Nicole by O.P.I and I really like it so far. I also have another one from Revlon and they both work great!

This is just a random design I did using a blue base, white crackle and then the moon candy. It looks so pretty in the light!

 

 



Blue based snowflake nails!! (Winter nails #1)

 Start off with a blue base (China Glaze's "Blue Iguana")

 

 Next, if the blue isn't shiny or sparkly add a top coat that is (China Glaze's "Fairy Dust).

 

 Now for the snowflake, you can use any white color and a thin brush (or toothpick) and just follow the lines in the steps below.

 

 Add a half snowflake towards the end of the nail if you'd like and three dots on either side of the flakes (optional).

 

And there you have it, accent snowflake nails! :)

Thanksgiving nails...idea from MissJenFABULOUS

Start off with a white base coat (I'm using "Blanc" by Essie)

Take three colors (I'm using orange, red and yellow. You can also use a lighter brown) and alternate, making a fan of feathers going across your nail bed.

Next, with a dark brown (I'm using "Mink Muffs" by Essie) fill in the body of the turkey where the feathers meet.

Using a dotting tool, take white for the eyes, followed by a smaller dot of black for the eyeballs. Lastly take the same orange color (used for the feathers) for a little nose.

For the rest of the nails, make feather designs however you want.

Step by step on Cow nails! (Requested by a friend)

Every now and then I like to take requests for nail designs from family, friends and co-workers. It wasn't until recently that I realized I needed to make step by step tutorials (seriously?! it took me this long?!). I just figured it would take me so much longer to paint, take a picture then continue the routine until I was done. But enough talk...enjoy these cow nails requested by my friend Fabiola! :)

 

Start off with a white base coat (1-2 coats)...I'm using one by China Glaze in "White on White." And slightly let dry so the next color does not mix.

 

Then using a pink color, I'm using another China Glaze polish in "Shocking Pink." fill in the tip of your ring finger (or wherever you want your cow's face to be).

 

Then using a dotting tool, tooth pick or thin brush, take a black color (I used Essie's "Licorice") and dot the eyes and nose (exuse the poor lighting these first pictures were taken with my camera, next are from my phone).

 

Then take the brush (or a thin brush) the polish comes with and start making your cow's spots, this part gets a little messy around the edges but you can always use remover to clean that up!

 

Repeat the spots on all the other nails and there you have it, cute cow nails!!!

National Cheesecake Day!

For all of you cheesecake lovers, today at my job is National Cheesecake Day at The Cheesecake Factory!!...This design was a request from my General Manager. I tried to look up cheesecake designs and well...there were none so this was all I could come up with and had the patience for.

Today (and tomorrow for Facebook fans) cheesecake slices are half price if you dine in and we also have our new Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake!

Fourth of July nails!!

Sorry I have been so M.I.A, I have had a busy couple of days. My coworkers and I all went out last Wednesday and had a huge going away party for my friend because he was leaving our restaurant, also someone just got back from Afghanistan so we were celebrating that (met him that night, but I know him through a mutual friend). So that was a long night. This weekend we had a crazy rain storm that knocked out our power, some places are still without power. It was not fun...very miserableee.
This week I only have one class. It was today's class actually, we had our midterm, not as bad as I thought but it was not fun. Tomorrow I'm going to D.C for a couple school events and possibly getting more piercings once I get back. We shall see. Hope everyone has a great week!
